My belief and SL experience: Most people are nice and reliable. Be good and you'll meet good. Don't let the few negative encounters judge you about people in general.
I am less often in SL. I moved to OSgrid. One can TP between OpenSim worlds while SL stays closed.
I am no longer in SL Otherland Estate as the estate was sold to ACS in June 2009. We now lease out land in OSgrid at about 1% of SL prices. See my picks: Opensim or www.swondo.com
