I prefer to get to know someone through conversation, perhaps over a dance or other chance meeting, rather than silently scanning a profile. I like the interactivity of allowing things to unfold organically rather than than attempting to telegraph a personality in advance. That said, I do read profiles and very well may be looking at yours right now.
