After inventing the revolutionary difference and analysis engines in the 19th century, Babbage moved in to cybernetics, developing the steam powered arm and mechanical heart which made him effectively immortal. Now, in the 21st century, he is working on The Creation Engine, a steam powered virtual world also known as Second Life, with a number of people from the colonies.
